Are you sick and tired of having people give you work that
could benefit from even a modicum of proofreading? The standard excuse is
"authors cannot proofread their own work," and while this is generally true, how
about having someone (or something) read the work aloud to the author? One of
our staff members is mildly dyslexic (truth) and using ReadPlease routinely on
all his work has saved his hide more than once.
ReadPlease 2000 is a
freeware program that will read any text on the clipboard aloud. When you have
finished the email or document (page or pages), simply select and copy the text
to the clipboard, right click on the ReadPlease icon in the Tray, and select
Paste and Play. Choose whether you want Marilyn Monroe or a male voice (four
pre-configurable voices), and your text is read back to you. The program reads
your text very well indeed.
With software this useful and this price, we have a
company-wide policy that not only is all deliverable material spell-checked, but
it is also proofread using ReadPlease. ReadPlease really does save time and
money at the end of the day.
