We've just heard that this year's Comdex show will have less
than half the exhibitors that displayed in 2000 and they are
expecting about half the attendance of the 2000 show. We'd
like to assure you that the CIDM's conferences are thriving.
We have three conferences planned for 2003.
The first is our annual Content Management Conference on
April 28 and 29. This year it will be held in Arlington
Virginia, across the Potomac from Washington, D.C. The exact
program is still in development, but you may want to mark
your calendar now. We hold our conferences to about 100
attendees so that you can make good contacts with the
speakers and other attendees. Sessions typically consist of
representatives from organizations that have successfully
implemented content management along with representatives
from the tool vendors they used. We also have an exhibit
with the major tool vendors demonstrating their products.
Watch for more information coming soon at
www.cm-strategies.com.
We're also planning our European Content Management
conference. It will be in Brussels, Belgium in June. Check
into tickets to Europe. They're less expensive than you
might think. Typically, I can fly to London from Denver
cheaper than going to Albuquerque! The European conference
will have the same format as the April conference but
representatives will primarily be from European
organizations. All of the conference is in English and we
hope many Americans will be able to attend.
Finally, our 5th annual Best Practices conference will be
held at a resort still to be determined in the Pacific
Northwest in late September or early October. This
conference is aimed at information-development managers. As
usual, we expect to have a great time and get lots of tips
about how other managers successfully manage their
organizations. You'll have a lot of opportunities to network
during this conference.
We're hearing that the economy is finally starting to pick
up and travel budgets are starting to come back. Hope to see
you at one of our conferences!
