Speed Dating Wins Kudos at the 2015 Best Practices Conference

Well—not really speed dating, but close. The first-ever Best Practices Demo Jam brought together people who had developed their great ideas with those who wanted an opportunity to see what they had done. Each Demo presenter got 10 minutes to show off a development before the bell rang and the crowd moved to another presentation.

Rare Bird Award 2015

The Center for Information-Development Management (CIDM) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 Rare Bird Award. Hebe Hui He and Wang Xu Dong of Huawei Corporation received a joint award for their exemplary work in transforming the processes used to develop user documentation. They have created a collaborative environment that has produced incredible gains in content reuse and the automated retrieval of reference content from design documentation.

The information age is upon us. We have five times the number of words in the English language today than existed in the time of William Shakespeare. In the year 1900, human knowledge doubled every 100 years; today it doubles every 13 months. Even our economy has undergone a shift: we have moved away from an economy based on traditional industry to an economy based on digital information. It would be relatively easy to fill this article with statistics about how much technology has impacted the way we create and present information; however, as information architects, we also need to concern ourselves with the way we manage that information.

grundfosAn annual production of more than 16 million pump units makes Grundfos one of the world’s leading pump manufacturers. Circulator pumps for heating and air-conditioning as well as other centrifugal pumps for the industry, water supply, sewage and dosing are the main products. Today Grundfos is the world’s largest manufacturer of circulators, covering app. 50% of the world market of these pumps.

In addition to pumps Grundfos produces standard and submersible motors as well as state-of-the-art electronics for monitoring and controlling pumps. Additional products are produced in the BioBooster and Lifelink divisions, which are part of the company’s new business activities. Grundfos has also introduced Grundfos Blueflux, which is a new technology-label, which insures that the equipment is among the absolute best in the market.
